Here’s what you’ll need to make Lake Trout Tacos!

For the slaw

5-6 cups coleslaw mix (usually one pre-made bag of coleslaw is enough)
1/2 cup thinly sliced red onion
3 tablespoons white vinegar
1 tablespoon lime juice
Zest of one lime
Salt and pepper to taste

For the Lake Trout

2-3 tablespoons olive oil
2-4 filets of Lake Trout (depending on size)
2 teaspoons chili powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
Pinch of cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Small tortillas
Chipotle Sauce (We use Presidents Choice Chipotle Crema Sauce)
Fresh limes, 1 sliced avocado and chopped cilantro for serving

Instructions

In a medium bowl, combine all the ingredients for the slaw. Cover and refrigerate until serving.

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Brush a large baking sheet with olive oil. Place lake trout on prepared baking sheet.

In a small bowl, combine the chili powder, garlic salt, cayenne, salt and pepper. Sprinkle spice mixture evenly over lake trout. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until cooked through and flaky. Break lake trout into large chunks.

Fill warm tortillas with lake trout, slaw mixture and an avocado slice. Drizzle with chipotle sauce and serve with fresh limes and chopped cilantro for garnish, if desired.
